Professional, Dedicated, and Knowledgeable
My daughter and I both highly recommend Loretta Macaluso. She is an excellent speech and language pathologist. My 6-year-old grandchildren were having difficulty in school with every subject, but mainly speech. So we started tutoring after school. When Loretta Macaluso was tutoring my grandson she became aware of a bigger problem and suggested a speech and language evaluation. After the evaluation with Loretta she prepared a very detailed and comprehensive report that uncovered many speech and language disabilities. She then developed a custom tailored learning plan for my grandson. When he first started with her he was awkward, frustrated, and didn’t know how express his feelings without negative speech and physical contact. After the first session we noticed that he had already started to become better at his communication skills which in turn improved his behavior. Now he is more confident, fluent and outgoing due to Loretta’s teaching skills, as well as her listening skills. Now my grandson is doing a lot better in school, at home, and in life in general.
Then about 4 months later my 6-year-old granddaughter started having even more difficulty in school. The tutor that she was meeting with twice a week recommended a speech and language evaluation for her. So naturally, we asked Loretta to perform the evaluation. Once again, we were so pleased that she said she would. After the evaluation we learned that my granddaughter also had a few problems that needed worked on. Loretta then built a custom tailored learning plan for my granddaughter. Loretta also discovered that there might be a problem with my granddaughter’s vocal folds and recommended us seeing an ENT specialist for further testing. We learned from the ENT that she had vocal fold nodules. My granddaughter also has improved tremendously thanks to Loretta.
Loretta is a highly professional, dedicated, knowledgeable specialist and talented speech and language pathologist. She manages to keep highly distracted children focused for an hour, in which time she accomplishes a lot and they learn a lot. She creates a very fun and relaxed environment, but still maintains control of the room with a no nonsense approach. Her skills allow her to use any mood or behavior the child is exhibiting for learning and language.
We are truly grateful for Loretta! She loves the children and they love her. They can’t wait to go to their sessions. They are excited about learning and the changes in them have been tremendously positive, exciting, and sometimes unbelievable. We are truly blessed to have Loretta in our lives and the children’s lives. She has made a huge, positive impact on them and us.

A Gift to Our Family
NKY Speech and Language Services has been such a tremendous gift to our family. From the time my son began to speak, he was struggling with his sounds and words. He became very frustrated that he could not communicate his thoughts to adults. We feared his self-confidence was starting to be impacted in a negative manner.
Once he was in kindergarten, he was offered speech therapy through the school system. Although his speech began to improve somewhat, it became clear that his speech challenges were effecting his ability to read sight words and accurately pronounce certain vowels and consonants. And by first grade, it was clear he was falling behind his grade level in reading.
At that point, my husband and I made the decision to look into options for private speech therapy. It was obvious that the schools could only do so much and we wanted our son to have the best tools we could offer him to succeed in school and in life.
The first private speech option we tried was a large center, with several therapists on staff. Unfortunately, their approach was very “cookie cutter”, and did not address the speech challenges which were unique to our son. After three months of therapy, we realized our son was not improving.
At this point, Loretta Macaluso was recommended to us. Wow, what a difference she has made for our son! After just two months of therapy with her, our son’s speech improved dramatically. He began sounding out words and reading. He also started feeling more confident in himself and began to take an interest in books.
Mrs. Macaluso is an extremely dedicated and caring professional. She genuinely wants each child that she works with to succeed. She develops her treatment plans completely based on their individual needs and challenges. Her meaningful approach involves fun and creative activities to keep a child engaged in the instruction. Our son is very active and playful, and she used play therapy with him, which worked beautifully. She is also great about including fun games and activities around all of the holidays and seasons.
Thanks to Mrs. Macaluso, our son is now starting to excel in school. His reading scores have jumped up over thirty percent. He is also receiving almost perfect scores in reading comprehension and we are just amazed at how much his speech has improved. He’s now able to say words he could never say before. We cannot thank Mrs. Macaluso enough for all she has done for our son. We definitely feel she has given him many of the tools he needs for a brighter future!

Making a Difference
NKY Speech and Language Services has helped my son Isaac so much. He attends a weekly individual speech therapy session and a weekly group therapy session with Loretta, who is very experienced, brilliant and so caring. She does an amazing job. It is wonderful to watch Isaac make so much progress and grow to achieve his goals. Our family is very thankful for NKY Speech and Language Services skilled ability to help.
Individual therapy has helped him express himself in ways he was unable to before. When Isaac first started going there, he was frustrated and also made high pitched sounds among other things. After receiving therapy, he now articulates his sounds so much better and he has made tremendous progress with his ability to communicate his needs. Each session is creative and helps him with overcoming challenges and obstacles. During this week’s session they did a fun activity with colorful feathers and Isaac was able to blow for the first time ever. The ability to blow was a challenge for him and he was so proud of himself for overcoming that challenge.
Group therapy has helped tremendously with Isaac’s social and speech/language skills. This week we did a special Thanksgiving themed session where we all brought in a dish and had a dinner together. I was so happy when my son Isaac went and sat with peers to interact and socialize. It was an impactful session just like all of them. During this session the kids played with musical instruments while listening to and watching videos. Pictures matching the music material were available and Isaac matched the pictures with the video footage and made the connection between the two. The sessions are alot of fun and it’s great to watch all of the kids grow and overcome challenges. The group feels like family to us.
We accomplish so much in every group and individual session. This facility is amazing!
Thank you so much for making a difference! ?

From Struggling to Excelling
My son saw Loretta Macaluso twice a week. He suffers from a reading learning disability and was several years behind grade level. She worked diligently with him on reading. However, she noticed other areas that he was struggling. She met with my husband and I and recommended further examination. We agreed and found out from the testing that he was missing several “building blocks” from his early years. She then mixed her time with him on his reading program but also the areas he didn’t have a good understand like rhyming, idioms, etc… She gave him numerous shortcuts and ways to remember learning skills. Once some of the building blocks were in place, his reading improved dramatically. She taught him to manage his disability and believe he was capable of anything. He is now excelling in school and we are very happy with how well our son is doing.
